Finals Week!!

We're right in the middle of finals week again, and I wanted to remind everyone that there are multiple ways to get in touch with the library if you're working on a project or paper at home.

You can always give us a call any time the library is open! Just let us know how we can help- whether its working with a database, tracking down a needed book, or trying to come up with a last minute research strategy, we can do it over the phone. Our number is 407-708-2305.

You're welcome to send us an e-mail, as well. The easiest way is to fill out the e-mail form on our website. We do our best to respond within a few hours during our normal hours.

Right here on our blog you can also send an instant message to the library during most afternoon and evening hours. Just look for the "Ask A Librarian" window on the right side of the screen. If a librarian is available, you'll see a green light and a message saying we're online- we will be able to help in real-time!

Lastly, the state-wide Ask A Librarian service is available during hours in which our library is unavailable. If you need to chat with a librarian and we aren't here, please send them an instant message!

Best of luck to all Seminole State students!!

Stress time

Now that the term is coming to a close soon , it is crunch time for studying. The Library offers a number of options for quiet study. The whole second floor is designated as a quiet study area, with lab computers, individual soft seating and study rooms. The study rooms are for groups of two or more-read the signs to figure out what is best for your needs. Best of all there is a large room just for silent, individual use with a great view of the campus.

Bookmarking Your Research

Since it's getting down to the last couple weeks of research and paper writing this semester, you may want to explore ideas for keeping track of your sources. Sure, you're able to print out all of your articles and websites, and it's often easy to save all of your sources directly to your computer or flash drive.

But, have you ever used social bookmarking to contain all of your research in one place that is accessible wherever you can access the Internet? Take a look at a few resources that might help out with organization and citation here:

*Diigo- Not only can you save Web pages, add subject tags for easy retrieval, and share them with group members, but Diigo will also let you highlight and post sticky notes to information in your bookmarks! Pretty neat.

*Delicious- Probably the most popular bookmarking tool around, this one is pretty straightforward and easy to use. A very nice advantage is the ability to install browser buttons for Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome that make bookmarking resources a simple click of the mouse. Read more about them here.

*Connotea- This one is geared most towards academic researchers, so you may want to take note of its features. One benefit of Connotea is that it is able to extract as much information as possible from a website/journal article, and save it for you to refer back to when you begin citing your sources.

All of them require creating an account, but they're free, and can be a great help as the semester is wrapping up!
